Bio: One of the most experienced Hypno-Psychotherapists in Britain today, a highly qualified and experienced practitioner, graduate, trainer & educator, broadcaster & writer, Sue has been in the field of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy for 40 years. Always a presenter, Sue originally taught in schools before setting up her own training company in 1983 training therapists in therapeutic techniques, nationwide. Sue’s training school became an approved training & accrediting organisation for the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) the most important regulatory body in the field today. Well known regionally an ‘agony aunt’, working on Radio Merseyside over a period of three years, Sue is no stranger to regional TV and Radio work, which include guest appearances on local BBC TV speaking about Holistic Health where the presenter called her ‘a natural’. Later, Granada’s “Look North” visited her Liverpool Holistic Health Centre for a day, to feature it. Recently she was on “City Talk” speaking about ‘dream analysis’ for the DJ Howard Hughes, then later also for “City Talk” responding to a newspaper article they were featuring about how people worry! Sue offered proactive techniques on how to take control and avoid unnecessary worrying which were enlightening. She has, in fact, dedicated her life to the empowerment of the individual. Her warm, easy and elegant manner makes her ideal for both Radio and TV appearances, together with a professional and unflappable approach which only 40 years of experience can bring. Sue Washington is concentrating on reaching a wider public through writing and the media. Long term, her aim is to have people trained in her methods in every school & Health Centre in the UK. Her Mnemodynamic training courses currently run Nationwide. Her model of work has been continually demonstrated and assessed at the highest levels including Liverpool John Moores University and the Government’s University for Industry (Ufi). She has worked in Education since 1968; in Primary Healthcare at a doctor’s surgery in Merseyside for four years; in the fields of personal growth, team building and preventative medicine. Sue has lectured part time at the Universities of Liverpool John Moores (LJMU) and Central Lancashire (UCL). She has a Certificate in Education (Leeds University), a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Open University, a Master of Science degree in Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology from Liverpool University, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Studies from LJMU. Sue has been featured in “Lancashire Life” and “Cheshire Life”. She has recently been on Radio Lancashire with Tony Livesey, speaking about communication inside relationships as we neared St Valentine’s Day. Her last contact with radio was when she was asked to defend the position “Real men DO do the ironing!” Sue’s book “Peace of Mind – Pathways to Successful Living” was published in December 2008. Therapists are asked to list up to five specialisations – e.g., treating anxiety, depression, phobias, hypnotic gastric band therapy, & childbirth. However, in view of the many areas in which hypno-psychotherapy can help, these are not definitive, and some therapists prefer not to list any, so as not to limit themselves.

Some therapists are willing to take NHS funded referrals from GPs. However, you will need the prior agreement of your GP for such an arrangement.
