Bio: My name is Vanessa and I have been qualified in psychotherapy since 1998 and Supervision 2019 I aim to offer a safe space to explore the issues that have brought you to psychotherapy. I work with a range of issues with adults, over 18 years of age, this maybe short or long-term work. I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse and have training and qualifications in EMDR (Eye Movement desensitisation and reprogramming), Relational Trauma work, Complex Trauma work, Solution focused work, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and clinical hypnotherapy. The type of psychotherapy approach I use is based on an integrative model; this means that I can work to your needs with the skills and tools I have and can be adapted to meet your needs and what best suits you. I believe that psychotherapy provides a space for difficulties to be shared and discussed which allows us to gain a wider perspective and develop alternative ways of responding to and dealing with or accepting difficulties. It maybe that you want to access your therapy remotely, although face to face work is always a preference when available there are some advantages of remote working and this is decided on an individual basis. Although I have worked with clients on a range of issues, I have an interest in working with certain areas of difficulty these include: ϖ Anxiety related issues ϖ Emotional regulation and destructive behaviours ϖ Cancer and the effects of coping with this and other illness ϖ Trauma, including PTSD – past or present ϖ Complex PTSD ϖ I am a dissociation friendly therapist ϖ I can offer supervision to a range of trainees and qualified therapists I am a member of the UKCP for Psychotherapists. Therapists are asked to list up to five specialisations – e.g., treating anxiety, depression, phobias, hypnotic gastric band therapy, & childbirth. However, in view of the many areas in which hypno-psychotherapy can help, these are not definitive, and some therapists prefer not to list any, so as not to limit themselves.
Some therapists are willing to take NHS funded referrals from GPs. However, you will need the prior agreement of your GP for such an arrangement.
